A Walk in the Park

Timothy Bausack

Today is Sunday--a day of rest. So before I went to work on the windows, I decided I would take some time out and go for a walk through the park across the street since it might be the only bright sunny day we have during peak color this fall if the last week has been any indication.

I have been wanting to take a walk but it has been cloudy and rainy.

Nevertheless, there were some interesting colors despite the gray skies.

Finally! Some sun! Standing in this location on a sunny afternoon usually results in a good picture being taken.

An open-grown Oak

L to R: Sugar Maple, Armstrong Maple

A closer look.

An even closer look. Maples are brilliant in the fall.

Leaves floating on the edge of Gilkey Creek. The inspiration for the "Gilkey Creek Autumn" painting I'm sure.

"Gilkey Creek Autumn" by James Douglas Draper. This would look perfect above my mantel.

I climbed a tree before returning home

This is what I found in it. A gnarled section of bark perfectly shaped to hold the back of my head while laying down on the branch.
